I am thrilled to announce that our Early Educator of the Year, Crystal Sherwood will be a special guest speaker on next week's Future Call hosted by The Children's Movement of Florida. Crystal has made incredible contributions to early childhood education, and this is a fantastic opportunity to hear her experience first hand.I encourage all of our members to register for the call.

Inspiring day of collaboration at Affiliate Leadership Day before the start of NAEYC Professional Learning Institute in New Orleans. Of course the day included a stop at Cafe Du Monde for beignets and then walking around the French Quarter.

One of the highlights from my trip to Miami was meeting with the early education students at Miami Dade College. These up and coming educators are both passionate and knowledgeable. Fun fact... FLAEYC's Board of Directors includes a student representative position. This is a great opportunity for a student to grow and develop their leadership skills. Elections open in June. If you are an early education student who wants to grow professionally please consider running.

I had the great privilege of visiting the United Way Center for Excellence in Early Education today. This innovative center models evidence based practices through its demonstration school, Educare of Miami. The center shares these practices with educators and centers within the community. A beautifully designed space with many natural elements creating a warm and inviting environment for the children they serve.
