How long do chevy avalanches last? (2024)

The Chevrolet Avalanche is a relatively reliable truck, with anecdotal reports of some drivers getting upwards of 300,000 miles or more out of their vehicle. Realistically, this is probably not something You should expect, albeit it is something You might hope for. As with many vehicles, the Avalanche is a product of how well (or poorly) You treat it. If You drive Your Avalanche on the road (little to no off-roading) and service it at regular intervals, it's very realistic that You'll get 150,000 or 175,000 miles out of it. If You take exceptionally good care of it and only use top-of-the-line fluids, You're likely looking at 200,000 to 250,000. If You do all of the above and have a little luck on Your side, it's reasonable to assume You might join the 300,000 mile club.

I have had my Chevrolet Avalanche since it first rolled out the dealership, and I have managed to get 800,000 miles out of it and it is the original engine and everything is stock from the factory.

Ava May 15, 2021

My avalanche has over 300,000 miles and I don't change the oil or oil filter. And I have put over 125,000 in the three years I have owned it. It just burns that oil and I just add more.

Phil D November 10, 2021

250,000 miles.Only problem is it's on its 3rd engine.I may be dumb but I love this truck n I can't get rid if it.

Love my 2002 Avalanche that we actually bought in 2001. Right now our car has 205,608 miles on it. It is the best car ever made. I have arthritis and a bad back and I can't find the comfort in any car comparable to the Avalanche. You don't feel bumps on the road and it is as comfortable as sitting home on a good sofa. I hope the car goes on another 20 years because it is the best. Also while our car has never had the benefit of sitting housed in garage. It has always been exposed to the hot, sunny days and rain in Florida it still shines like a pearl. The stereo is original and still sounds great. I cannot find anything to complain about it on, the only complaint I have is that this car should have never been stopped being manufactured!

My 2002 Chevy Avalanche Z71 has 240,000 and starts every morning. It has been off roaded, pulled campers, hunting, in blizzards and the like. Best truck I've owned.

Glen Allen February 16, 2022

My 2004 1500 Avalanche is at 255,000 miles. Just had transmission rebuilt for 2nd time but engine cranks and purr’s like a kitten, very quiet. Just had steering gear box and pitman arm replaced, and I replaced inner and outer tie rods and lower control arms both on left and right sides. Shocks are next for 2nd time, and I hope to get another 250,000 miles out of this 2004 Avalanche.

Robert B. April 9, 2020

The chevy avalanche can last up to 200 - 300,000 miles if it has been repaired properly and has scheduled maintenance intervals regularly.

Ed October 25, 2020

Mine has 308842 miles

Ralph S March 22, 2023

Have 220,000 on my 07 Avalanche. Continues to run great. Best vehicle that I have ever owned. Too bad that Chevy stopped making them. Albeit, I got to this mileage with 100% Mobile One usage, and various repairs after 100k.

I love my 2004 Chevy Avalanche. I drove it off the showroom floor in 2004 and still truckin'. I have 327,932 miles and doing great. Its still unique looking, no dents no bumps and no problems. For my own knowledge, I happened to look up the value and I really cant believe the Blue Book value is so low. That's ridiculous!

Horace June 28, 2023

Mines is well over 800,0000

Richard A Finger June 5, 2023

202000 everything all original and she puts like a kitten. Change oil every 3000 miles and still running strong, shifts smooth, love my Avalanche.

Doug B February 24, 2023

2003 Z71 with 465120 miles. Ohio salt and brine have taken a toll on the fenders but still drive it to work every day. Original engine. Rebuilt the transmission at 285000m but that is probably due to trailering my motorcycle to Florida for years with it.

Mike C January 5, 2024

Mine and my wife's is almost 470,000 she sure does drink the motor oil but i can't complain other then an ac belt breaking and breaks and other common maintenance have had no issues love our 02 Avalanche

Gary May 14, 2021

Saddness today. My beloved 2002 is being hauled away. 250,000 miles, still runs string (god I love driving that truck), but the Wisconsin winters got to her and the frame is shot. Best riding driving vehicle I've ever had, been driving for 50 yrs!

We bought our 2002 Chevy avalanche Z66 New in February 2002. It has been a phenomenal vehicle with no issues other than normal maintenance items tires, shocks batteries. Have been driving it for 22 years and have 130,000 miles on it. Driving in Georgia majority of time, the body looks brand new. The. Plastic cladding has faded, but looks good after Armor-all. Truck has been garaged all of its life.

Harvey Yamamoto June 5, 2024

I have a Chevy Avalanche that I bought in 2002. It has 68,500 miles on it and drives like a new truck. Very comfortable ride. Thinking about selling it later this year.

Eric June 1, 2024

I have a 2002 avalanche that is purring right along at 340,000 miles. I use regular gas but I do oil changes every 3000 miles as prompted. Walmart oil nothing special. I am a master certified diesel mechanic.

DONALD OBERLOH May 10, 2024

My 2003 gets oil change every 3000k miles. I gotten 230k miles. Plenty of towing 7500 lb trailer. Light off roading compared to younger years. Runs great still. Doesn’t burn any oil, does not smoke, I plan on another 100k miles easily, never seen a garage or carport. Ist 150k miles in Northern Indiana winters.

Desiree April 26, 2024

Absolutely love my 02 avalanche wouldn't trade it for anything 332000 miles and still go and strong original engine and transmission regular oil changes and fluid changes.
